How does your legislator vote?

It’s an age-old question, and you’ll see many rankings, surveys, and analyses of a legislator’s actions. Unfortunately, most of these rankings inject the bias of the organization into the ranking. Wouldn’t it be better if there was a way to figure out a legislator’s preferences without bias, more like a science experiment? That’s where Evidence-base Wyoming...

Why do we hold primaries?

I had an interesting exchange over my endorsement for Chip Neiman. Shari Gose, a reader, took issues with my choice and the manner in which I called out Tyler Lindholm. She opined that my support was somehow paid for, implying nefarious motives. Those familiar with Evidence-Based Wyoming know that I am its creator and sole author. No one pays me. I offer my opinion based on data analysis of the...

HD-1: If votes supporting Republicans in the legislature are cows, Tyler Lindholm is all hat no cattle.

In HD-1 vote for the candidate that will stand with the Republican Party, Chip Neiman. The Bad Choice Evidence-based Wyoming ranks Tyler Lindholm as a liberal Republican. In 2020, in at least 80 votes, he voted against his party’s majority. Nine of those times, it caused the Republicans majority to lose those votes. On top of that, Rep. Lindholm led the revolt against Rep. Gray’s...

I conversed with thirty or more Republicans of all stripes.   One of the more interesting conversations was with Rep. Jared Olsen (R-Cheyenne) and his wife, Dani Olsen, the Chair of the...

Let’s “Throw the bums out”

So the campaign season is here. Many candidates are already canvassing their districts. The sense is that COVID-19 absentee and early voting, which begins July 3rd, will be critical in this year’s election. Last night saw a debate for state legislative office last night in Campbell County. It was lively with the incumbents, especially Rep. Eric Barlow and Sen. Michael VonFlatern, mailing in...

2020 Legislator Rankings – Corrected

Thanks to the work of a few eagle eye readers an error was uncovered. The tool would not properly account for a legislator being the solitary vote for or against an action. This would cause the vote not to register correctly. This has been corrected. This results in small changes to the rankings. The new rankings for the 2020 budget session can be found here This is why I try to show all my work...
